Fast Food Blech!

A week or so before Christmas one of the rig hands brought me a hamburger from Sonic. Even before I opened the bag I could smell the burger. It was a very nice gesture and I didn't want to waste the food. I could only eat a couple of bites before I started to feel ill. I guess I'm so used to only eating home cooked meals that the smell and the taste just turned my stomach. I ended up giving the burger and tater tots to my dogs.

I used to love to eat fast food and spent quite a bit of money doing so. Maybe it's something you get used to and don't even realize how disgusting it really is, or maybe I've changed over time. (I do still like the fast food chain Chick Fil A) I don't crave it and it's not something I think about when I leave the gate. Even if I'm starving I don't have thoughts of stopping and picking up a burger or any fast food. I have thoughts of getting home and eating something, thinking of what I can make myself in a hurry.

I'm sure financially it has saved me a fortune not including health costs and benefits.

I do enjoy eating at some restaurants ocassionally but I much prefer to eat at home where I know what is in the food and how it was prepared as far as cleaniless etc.

    Not a fast food fan but some ethnic foods on the Big Rigs are tasty. After all the fresh, home made meals over the holidays prepared with love and time, I'm more interested in eating at home than eating out.

    When we eat out we try to pick a restaurant that makes something I don't make, don't know how to make or not wiling to spend needed time for multi step meal.

    I don't mind going to restaurants now and then but fast food and I are just not friends. I do like to go to Carl's Jr now and then and get the Portobello Mushroom burger in a lettuce wrap rather than a bun. I don't get fries or a drink and it's still $6 but their burgers aren't cheap. I don't do it often, though, and when I do it's worth every penny. Smile

    IF I get a real hamburger it's a Whataburger. Period. Wink

    I'm with you...fast food sort of makes me ill anymore. I think it is a big part of getting used to not having the fat, grease, and salt and then when you have it, your body doesn't want it anymore. A friend of mine has tried to eat home more the last year and said that most restaurant food doesn't have the flavor of home cooking!

    My 17 y.o. son is eating healthier and when he does get the occasional burger he says it's like he can feel the greese/fat cover his toungue. He had never noticed it till he was actually eating a better diet.

    Also, I think we live pretty close to one another.

    It's funny how you notice these things after you've not eaten fast food for awhile, makes you wonder how you ever got used to it in the first place. It's also just the smell that makes me sick too.

    Thanks for thinking of me Denise. I've responded on some blogs but for the most part the internet has not been working out here for some reason. AT&T refuses to update their tower or whatever it is that needs doing cause they claim there is not enough of a need out here. Although there are tons of ppl and the only phone service that will even half way work is theirs! Hopefully I'll stay connected for awhile today!
