New Year Traditions Black Eyed Peas

January 1st, 2012 at 08:56 pm

We always have black eyed peas for New Years lunch, supposedly it brings good luck in the new year. Are there any traditions or superstitions where you live?

LOL...my mother would always prepare pork and sauerkraut and she and my dad would eat it at midnight...for good luck!

Do you do anything like that Mary Ann? I'm interested to hear what others do too! My mother insists on the black eyed peas!

No traditions or superstitions here, but I have heard of the black eyed pea one before.

Thanks Analise....I'll try that recipe. I like black eyed peas but honestly don't eat them much. I'll add that to my recipes...anything I can make in the crock pot is a good recipe and this sounds easy.
